Tether, the well-known issuer of the stablecoin USDT, recently led a $10 million funding round for Mansa, a cross-border payments provider. The announcement of Mansa securing the $10 million financing round on February 20 highlighted the importance of this capital injection in strengthening the company’s efforts to improve cross-border payments by addressing liquidity challenges faced by providers.

In addition to Tether, venture capital firm Polymorphic Capital co-led the round, with participation from other top VC platforms such as Octerra Capital, Faculty Group, and Trive Digital. This latest funding round added to the $3 million Mansa had raised earlier, bringing the total raised to $10 million. The company intends to utilize these funds for its expansion into Latin America and Southeast Asia, as well as for developing bespoke liquidity solutions and ancillary services to facilitate on-chain payments.

Mouloukou Sanoh, the CEO and co-founder of MANSA, emphasized the significance of bringing payments on-chain and leveraging efficient liquidity solutions to overcome challenges in cross-border transactions. By making payments faster, more cost-effective, and reliable worldwide, Mansa aims to reshape the global payment infrastructure.

Since its launch in August 2024, Mansa has experienced rapid growth driven by strategic partnerships in the payment industry. The company has expanded its presence by collaborating with payment providers across Africa, Asia, and South America. Notably, Mansa recorded $11 million in on-chain transactions in January 2025, marking a substantial 574% year-over-year increase. This growth aligns with the surge in stablecoin adoption, with USDT playing a pivotal role in facilitating real-time settlements and instant payouts for payment companies in emerging markets.

Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino expressed pride in partnering with Mansa to address key pain points in the payment ecosystem. By leveraging USDT for seamless transactions and payouts, Mansa is poised to revolutionize global payment infrastructure and enhance financial inclusivity worldwide.

As Mansa continues to expand its footprint and redefine cross-border payments, the collaboration with Tether and other investors underscores the importance of innovation and strategic partnerships in driving financial inclusion and efficiency across borders.
